Yeah I know, I didn't run it. But I still want to recap it. It was my first Trolley Runand I woke up at 6:20 so I think I earned a little space on this blog. Plus a TriSupporter treat happened after the finish.
Christy arrived at 7 am to pick me up and we were off for the Plaza where we parked then waited in a two block long line of people to board shuttle buses. There were a record number of registrants--10,400--so it was a lot of people to shuttle to Waldo.
Once we arrived at the intersection of 75th and Wornall we saw a mass of people. The fastest runner wave was already off. After a reasonable wait at the porta-potties, we headed over to the mass of orange wave participants - Fitness walkers or something like that, as opposed to people with strollers. The weather held up and we didn't get rained on but it was chilly and a bit windy.
Once our huge wave got going there was a good amount of space for walking. At mile 1 a guy with a cowbell cheered us on to celebrate mile 1. The best mile marker though was mile 2 - The Roasterie. It happened to be a well volunteered water station but who wants water when you can have the best air roasted coffee???
Christy and I stopped, got our java and headed back on our walk. The remainder of the walk was smooth and we crossed the finish line in 1:13:11. Our pace was 18:18 but we did lose some coffee time.
The highlight was after the finish we were walking through the crowd and a guy wearing one of my shirts walked past! That was the first time I've seen someone with one of my t-shirts on here in KC!! I was pretty excited.
So, if you don't already have a TriSupporter shirt, go out to my store and get yourself one!
